AFTERNOON PSALM
Psalm 13
For the choir director: A psalm of David.
O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way?
How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the upper hand?
Turn and answer me, O Lord my God!
Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die.
Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!”
Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall.
But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me.
I will sing to the Lord
because he is good to me.
All:
Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
WORSHIP (Optional)

OLD TESTAMENT READING
Numbers 3:5-13
The Lord said to Moses, “Bring the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest to help him. They will help him and all the Israelites at the Meeting Tent, doing the work in the Holy Tent. The Levites must take care of everything in the Meeting Tent and serve the people of Israel by doing the work in the Holy Tent. Give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; of all the Israelites, the Levites are given completely to him. Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests, but anyone else who comes near the holy things must be put to death.”
The Lord also said to Moses, “I am choosing the Levites from all the Israelites to take the place of all the firstborn children of Israel. The Levites will be mine, because the firstborn are mine. When you were in Egypt, I killed all the firstborn children of the Egyptians and took all the firstborn of Israel to be mine, both animals and children. They are mine. I am the Lord.”
Reader:
The Word of the Lord.
All:
Thanks be to God.

PRAYER
(Take a moment to bring to God any issues that have arisen during the morning. You may like to end with the following prayer…)
Reader:
Lord Jesus, we thank you for the work of the morning,
For the challenges faced and the obstacles overcome.
Grant that the rest of this day be used for your glory,
As we offer ourselves afresh to you. Amen
GRACE (Optional)
Reader:
Lord God, we thank you for your gift to us of this food;
Produce of earth, sky, many living beings, and much hard work.
May we eat with prayerfulness, gratitude and moderation;
With renewed minds and spirit-controlled appetites.
May we eat with compassion for those who hunger today,
And in such a way that reduces the suffering of all creatures;
Healing and preserving our precious planet.
Use this food to strengthen our bodies, revive our spirits,
Nurture our family and nourish our resolve;
That we may continue to serve all that lives with all our life. Amen
